Asia 2001 re-emerges with Oxygen, a fresh collection of sounds, ideas, and energy drawn and built on the legacy of their previous full-length studio album Contact. Oxygen brings together fresh compositions from Avichay Avigal alongside previously unreleased material and studio sessions that the duo began together and Avichay has completed after Gilbert Thévenet passing. The album captures the essence of their collaborative energy, creating a deep, immersive sound experience.
Oxygen reconnects the creative pulse that has always defined Asia 2001. A blend of deep analogue warmth, that typical easily recognized distinctive Asia 2001 sound. That unmistakable melodic drive the project has carried since its early days, a timeless musical style that continues to resonate given the feeling it can go on forever. That is just another reason why people flash on the musical style of Asia 2001.
Recorded between La Rochelle and Tel Aviv, the album bridges time and space, fusing past sessions and new compositions into one continuous flow. The new album reflects the continuing evolution of Asia 2001.
It showcases a fusion of analogue warmth and digital precision. It's a hallmark of their pioneering approach to trance and electronic music.
The partnership between Thévenet and Avigal traces back to 1996, running parallel to their Avatar project and exploring a wider palette of sonic ideas. This period laid the foundation for the project that both honors the duo’s classic sound and ventures into new sonic dimensions.
Oxygen isn’t about nostalgia”, says Avichay, “It's more than a new chapter, it’s about continuation of the shared spark and vision that began decades ago and letting it breathe in the present.” "It’s about rediscovering what inspired us to make music together in the first place, the energy, the exploration, and most of all the connection.’’
