Toi Doi - France
The name Toi Doi hides
the talented Gilles Coia from the suburbs of Paris, and from the
deep underground of the musical scene in the city. His musical roots
are in ballet and jazz.
Toi Doi's first release "Asymptot" on POF
was followed by a massive support from DJ Goa Gil, who stood behind
the exposure of Toi Doi. As an outcome "Particule", the first Toi
Doi track on Avatar was released in 1998.
Toi Doi's studio is
located in the estate of an aristocratic family outside Paris, in
the wing of the hunter's lodging.
The landscape of the
surrounding forests and their wildlife is another source of
inspiration in writing the extraordinary and original music he
creates, a variety of electronica, from trance and ambient to
triphop.
For the past six years, Toi Doi has been experimenting
with new machines, inventing sounds. Toi Doi's music is the outcome
of hard work and devotion, exposing just one side of his life
story.
His debut album on Avatar is appropriately named
"Technologic". It's a creation based on technology and logic, two
elements which accompany Toi Doi on his day to day
life.
